Walk in the Rain... Nobody will see you crying........
At last ....The monsoons arrived last evening. Everyone was thankful to the "The Rain Maker" .. the first drops were like the dews . The first smell of the rain , the relief from the oppresive summer heat all added to the ecstasy .. Although majority of the people returning home after the
day's work had to get bedraggled by the unexpected rain , the traffic was slow .. still everyone welcomed the first monsoon.. Actually, is it the monsoons that we love .. or is it the change ? We hate monotonicity and hence we always look for a change .. Can we deny that after the long winter months when the mercury column rises, we still love the change ? The compressor of the AC machine wakes up after hybernation .. The Sun gets hotter as we approach the Summer Solstice ... Dont we love it ? We do ! But then after a few months we start cursing the unbearable heat .. We pray for monsoons.. But is our Love for the monsoons an eternal one ? No , definitely not. After long monsoon for four months we cannot tolerate the rains.. The feelings of the first monsoon has faded into the oblivion.. We start praying for the autumn.. So the nature has adorned herself with so many seasons with unique feels ..Every action of the Nature bears a periodicity .. the period may vary .. Every sunset and sunset in the micro level translates to the seasonal changes in the macro level .. And may be to ages when we become more liberal about the time period under consideration..
The Seasonal Change in our mind...
Just as a pendulum swings , we all pass through a State of Depression following a State of Elation.. and the cycle is never ending..What makes people infinitely different is the non discrete nature of the amplitude.. Just like Sunset has to follow a Sunrise , which in turn is followed by another .. So the Nature itself conveys the message of Change of State , so to say.. Life does not demand to be simply harmonic , nor does it support inequality.. but there remains some inequality triggered by the Inertia.. the lack of strength to overcome the undesired , unwanted - lastly the obvious .
Some incidents , I was a 'witness' to since last evening ....

"Who cares .. a fast world ......?"
Whenever I go out , I do not walk !! I love my bike and he faithfully accompanies me wherever I go (a slightly modified version of the Hutch doggy who loves to carry his master ).. Bikes do what horses used to do in the Mughal era. The two wheeler is the modern day " Equus ". It feels like riding a horse ... I was returning home last night through the freeway (on my bike, obviously ) when I suddenly saw a bike lying on the side of the road and the rider was lying under the bike. He was struggling under the bike. He was not able to move the 200 Kg bike which was above him . All the cars did not even care to look , let alone stopping to help that victim . The first monsoon was about to claim her first victim . The road was slippery and the result of applying sudden brakes was a obvious 'skid'. I stopped and so did a few other bikers. Finally , the man recovered from the trauma and returned home with the help of some bikers who had cared to stop .some first aid was also provided. Thanks to the Bike manufacturer who provides a first aid pack hidden under the tool box. We speak of philanthropic activities, we speak of CRY , we speak of human welfare.. I revealed that the man was lying there for almost 15 mins and so many cars have seen him lying. But I would love to know how they felt when they did not even care to apply the brakes . How can people avert their eyes ? As Mother Teresa had said "We always feel that what we are doing is a drop in the ocean , but the ocean would be less because of that missing drop".. But what made the cars so inhuman? May be some revenge related to resurrection or probably insurrection against his values? I know there have been a few cases when the hijackers pretend an accident scene and hijack the car who cares to stop. I do not disagree. But majority of the cases are genuine accidents. So following the probability theory we can care to stop. Or may be stop to care . There are police posts every 5 Km on the freeway , so they could have at least informed them. There are so many ways.. If there is the will there are so many ways. Those who want to sing will always find a song... But the problem lies we do not have the will. We care for our near and dear ones only .. But the term "our" could also be a bit generalised. Lets care for each other .. again the self centered and unfeeling man will misinterpret the meaning the 'each other'

"The Fish Market , literally..."
The cuisine dominating the dinner plate was hotch potch and Hilsa fish.. So obviously the fish sellers cashed in on the situation. The Hilsa fish is available only during monsoons. The fishes enter through the estuary to lay eggs and end up in the dinner plates. It belongs to the same class as Silver Cup and Mrigel.. The price goes up initially as the monsoon sets in and then the "Invisible Hand" controls the price . Do not even think that the fall in demand attributes to the fall in price.. Rather the supply increases. Every Bong cannot even think of a meal without Hilsa on a rainy day. The fish market reflected a festive mood and was a cause celebre for the fish sellers. A sumptuous dinner to end with......
"The Chaos.. The Cosmos...."
As the monsoon sets in , the stability is disturbed and it takes sometime to limp back to normal. For a moment, every entity jerks a bit to overcome the internia. On my way this morning, I saw a bus leaning by the side of the road and the passengers struggling hard to get out through the emergency exit . Some were trying in despair to leap out of the window. It was raining hard .. Everywhere there's a scene of chaos.. May be the changes are setting in .. This would take sometime to settle .. The decantation process would follow but only after the initial chaos..
"Prisoners of the Mind , not the Heart ...."
Ony my way , there are so many amusement parks , water theme parks , so many bars .. a lot of places to spend the day as your heart wants.. A rainy day , a water theme park , a chilled bottle of beer invites you.. But you cannot stop. I have never shot any Black Albatross... But still
" Water, water, everywhere,
And all the boards did shrink;
Water, water, everywhere,
Nor any drop to drink. "
There are so many things inviting you to spend one day as your heart wants.. But still not a drop to drink. Coleridge made the sailor to kill the albatross in " The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" . Hence nature retaliated. But I cannot understand why are we held prisoners? The only answer that echoes within me is that , since there's the prison , the outside appears so beautiful. Or which is the prison?? The Monkey is the zoo thinks that the visitor is in the cage .. The killer, turned psychopath, thinks the policemen are in the prison. Its a relative world , we live in . Einsteins' Theory of Relativity - holds true in our day to day life ... Life moves on and so do we in the prison or may be in the open air. Relative , it is !
Signing off ,
Have to go and count the rain drops.........
JOY
